Structure, Impartiality, and Conflict of Interest

The parent company is the American Institute of Baking (AIB), which is a non-profit company and the President of AIB reports to a Board of Trustees. This board is aligned for strategic planning and does not have any influence on day-to-day operations in AIB International, Inc. or the AIBI Certification Body. All AIB Board members sign a conflict of interest and confidentiality agreement. AIBI-CS operates under a separate Board of Directors comprised of GFSI stakeholders and an Impartiality Governing Board performs risk assessments for threats to impartiality and conflict of interest. All Board of Directors and Impartiality Governing Board members sign confidentiality and conflict of interest agreements. Specific GFSI scheme requirements are defined by individual scheme contracts.

Certification Process and Notice of Change

A documented certification process is in place for each GFSI benchmarked scheme defining the AIBI-CS policies and procedures used for granting, maintaining, extending or reducing the scope of, for suspending, withdrawing or for refusing certification.

The requirements for application, review, scheduling and cost are done per accreditation and scheme specific requirements. For more detailed information please contact us by email.

Each report is individually reviewed for completeness, accuracy and adherence to GFSI benchmarked scheme requirements to grant or withhold certification. The certification client has the right to request information to initiate appeals, complaints and the dispute process. Details for this procedure will be provided upon request.

The certified companies are required to notify the certification body if there is any change of ownership, location change and any significant changes to management or plant processes. The certification body may notify the certificated company of any new requirements for certification.

The list of certified clients is held according to the individual GFSI benchmarked scheme requirements, which are accessible on the scheme holder’s website.

Scheme Logo and Accreditation Mark

Each GFSI benchmarked scheme has specific requirements for using their logo and the certification body will insure that the usage is proper and monitored. The accreditation mark will be used in accordance with their defined usage requirements. No misleading, ambiguous usage or accompanying text for product or system conformity on certified clients will be allowed. For more detailed information on logo use, please send us an email.
