Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the
making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain
conditions specified by law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy
or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or
reproduction is not to be 'used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or
research.' If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for
purposes in excess of 'fair use,' that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This
institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order, if in its judgement,
fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law. (37 C.F.R. 201.14).
Copyright royalty fees will be collected on all applicable materials photocopied by the
AIB Information Services / Ruth Emerson Library, with payment to be made to the copyright
owner through the Copyright Clearance Center.
At the time of placing a photocopy order, the requestor represents that the request is
in full compliance with current copyright laws. The requestor reconfirms and warrants that
the request for copies is in full compliance with the copyright laws by receiving the
requested materials. The requestor agrees to indemnify and defend AIB information
services, the Ruth Emerson Library, its parent organization the American Institute of
Baking, and their directors, officers, employees, and agents from any claim (copyright or
otherwise) relating in any way to the making of copies requested by the requestor.
