AIB Membership

AIB International membership puts you in the company of food industry leaders who believe that science, technology and education are the best ways to prepare for the future.

Forward-thinking food industry leaders founded AIB on that premise in 1919, used it as a guiding principle in the ensuing years, and fostered the same attitude among its members who have always found AIB to be a helpful partner in their progress.

  • All employees of AIB member companies are eligible for discounts on selected baking and technical seminars.
  • Single annual subscription to bimonthly AIB Technical Bulletin that provides in-depth information about ingredients, production technology and other food topics.
  • Reduced costs for in-house database searching, contract bibliographic research and online searching, document retrieval, and other information services.
  • The right to attend all membership meetings and vote on all questions coming before such meetings and to nominate candidates for election to the Board of Trustees, vote in elections of trustees, and serve on the Board of Trustees, its Executive Committee, or other committees appointed by the board.

Suggested Guidelines for Giving

Maximum $10,000 US, Minimum $500 US

The American Institute of Baking is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit educational and research corporation. All contributions to AIB are tax deductible.

  1. Food Manufacturers, Processors and Allied Industries (manufacturers and distributors of ingredients, manufacturers of packaging material, warehouses and other distributors)—$50 (U.S.) per $500,000 (U.S.) gross sales
  2. Millers: 5-cents per cwt of daily mill capacity
  3. Interested companies not classified in the first two categories give based on the maximum and minimum mentioned above.

Annual contributions less than $500 (US) will be listed as Contributors but do not qualify for membership privileges.


AIB International membership supports and provides access to:

Help with Regulations —AIB’s staff will interpret regulations pertaining to food safety, HACCP, ISO 9000, quality systems, supplier quality audits, food labeling, occupational safety, and food security.

Nutrient Labels —Our food labeling service can assist with FDA nutrition labeling compliance and supply nutrient facts at a fraction of the cost of chemical analysis, review packaging, and provide advice about health claims on packaging.

Evaluation —Use AIB’s technical staff to evaluate new ingredients, products, equipment, and processes and receive confidential assessments of their effectiveness.

Look to the Future —Use AIB to explore product development, food safety questions, and review industry innovations.

Information —AIB’s trained knowledgeable library staff provides database searches, online searches, document retrieval, and contract bibliographic research.

New Technologies —AIB can provide assistance and training in the use of predictive technologies for process and quality control.

Baking —AIB’s world renowned School of Baking offers basic and advanced training in baking and production management with resident courses, seminars, correspondence courses, and online training.
