Nutrition Labeling Services
AIB International's nutrition labeling program provides accurate nutrition profiles that fulfill
FDA requirements at a fraction of the cost of laboratory analysis. AIB International has provided
nutrition information for more than 63,000 different food products to more than 1,600 food
processors since the inception of the program in 1993.
The Nutrition Labeling Service can construct nutrition profiles for individual serving size
portions of food, which can be provided in a camera-ready format, or in non-rounded values
based on 100 gram food portions for dietician or product development requirements.
Studies on various products have been conducted comparing values calculated by AIB
International's program to values obtained from chemical analysis. The results demonstrate
that the nutrition information provided by the AIB International program complies with
the requirements of the NLEA and its associated regulations. These results have been shared
with FDA.
AIB guarantees the absolute confidentiality of every formula submitted.
Ingredient Statement Development
AIB International can use information supplied for nutrition labeling to develop ingredient
legend disclosures for all types of foods. Special provisions can be made for consolidated
ingredient description of complex foods, or the special listings required for assortments of
candies or specialty food items, as well as component labeling for certain unique foods.
Allergen Disclosures
Under the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004, all food labels must
explicitly disclose in plain English the presence of any included major food allergen or
their derivatives. AIB International has developed a new system to help ensure that the
mandatory disclosure of these potentially life-threatening agents is properly presented within
your food product label design.
Label Compliance Reviews
AIB International can assist clients to ensure that the various mandatory food labeling
requirements found in the more than 1,500 pages of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations
have been properly interpreted and applied in the design of their food packaging. Consulting
with our staff when reviewing pre-production label design artwork will assure compliance in the
placement and size of mandatory statements, completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of the
design content.
Sanction of Program by FDA Provides Peace of Mind
FDA sanctions the AIB nutrition program. If your product is selected for a nutrition audit
and the results do not agree with the label, FDA will work with you and AIB International to
resolve the issue prior to taking any compliance action.
